Wow,
this summer is melting away and that’s just scary! Time does certainly fly when
you are having fun --or working hard! J

Benjamin
has been serving at the Apple Valley MN Bishops’ Storehouse since the beginning
of June, right after his graduation from high school. He started well before receiving his official call because we wanted to make sure it was something he could indeed be successful
at before sending in his mission papers.
He
loves to go to the storehouse every Wednesday and Saturday. Last week he
received his official missionary tag and has been wearing it proudly. Yesterday
we also saw that his missionary plaque is now hanging in the chapel’s foyer
with the rest of the plaques honoring the current missionaries serving from our
ward. How exciting for Ben to have this wonderful opportunity! He is proud to
be an elder and to serve the best he can.
The
bishops’ storehouse is a small grocery store of sorts where people who need
extra help can receive basic foods and supplies, free of charge.
It truly is a blessing for people who might be facing temporary job layoffs or other trials which impede their ability to be self-reliant.
Ben helps stock the shelves and
package foods that the storehouse receives in bulk, such as fruits and
vegetables.
I know
that Ben feels the spirit when he serves, as he takes his calling
very seriously and absolutely loves to help there. It has been a blessing to witness his
ability to serve and love grow so much the past few months.
